چکیده

In this article, we expose a reconstruction method of complex objects, characterized either by a digital volume, or by a sample of points from the boundary surface of the object. In order to do so, we use a deformable model of implicit surfaces defined using a potential function and a skeleton. The latter, describing the structural information, can be given beforehand under two features: discrete (medial axis) or continuous (polyball skeleton). We present the geometrical model common to both approaches, as well as an efficient reconstruction method and a comparative study.

Implicit Surfaces for Semi-Automatic Medical Organs Reconstruction

This paper proposes a new method based on implicit surfaces for medical organs reconstruction. The original data are noisy scattered points of an organ, that may be arranged in any non-uniform repartition. The knowledge of the normal vectors is not needed. Organs of any geometry and topology can be reconstructed, as for instance a vertebra that is characterized by a hole and by several branchin...

Reconstructing multi-scale variational partition of unity implicit surfaces with attributes

Real-world 3D models are primarily acquired as large unorganized discrete point sets with attributes. In this paper, we show how to reconstruct multi-scale implicit surfaces with attributes given those discrete point sets with attributes. In a preprocess, we first subdivide the global domain into overlapping local subdomains by computing a perfectly balanced binary tree. Second, we compute subs...

Automatic Reconstruction of Unstructured 3 DData : Combining a Medial

This paper presents a new method that combines a medial axis and implicit surfaces in order to reconstruct a 3D solid from an unstructured set of points scattered on the object's surface. The representation produced is based on iso-surfaces generated by skeletons, and is a particularly compact way of deening a smooth free-form solid. The method is based on the minimisation of an energy represen...

Implicit Sweep Surfaces

A technique is presented for generating implicit sweep objects that support direct specification and manipulation of the surface with no topological limitations on the 2D sweep template. The novelty of this method is that the underlying scalar field is bounded and C continuous, apart from surface creases. Bounded scalar fields guarantee local influence when modeling with implicit surfaces, an i...

Automatic Reconstruction of Unstructured 3D Data: Combining Medial Axis and Implicit Surfaces

This paper presents a new method that combines the use of medial axis and implicit surfaces in order to reconstruct a 3D solid from an unstructured set of points sampled on its surface. The proposed method uses implicit iso-surfaces generated by ponctual skeletons, that are a particularly compact way of defining a smooth free-form solid. As in a previous work 19 the principle is the minimizatio...
